Future Technology Vietnam is a successful candidate of the Proof of Concept (PoC) competition by Vietnam Climate Innovation Center (VCIC) with the project "Solar powered boat".

More than a month after applications officially closed on the 4th of August 2014, the judges have decided on the 24 applicants that made it through.

If you are just catching up, the PoC Competition is held in anticipation of the Vietnam Climate Innovation Centre (VCIC), and is organised by infoDev and the World Bank Group in partnership with the Asian Development Bank. The Vietnam CIC is supported by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Application started in May 2014, and was open to all entrepreneurs with innovative ideas for climate change mitigation and/or adaption. Various workshops and one-on-one consultations were held for applicants to address queries and invite more people to come on board with their innovations.

The judging panel comprised of individuals with knowledge and skills in:

- Climate change

- Venture capital investment

- Development and commercialization

- Start-ups and advisory

The judging criteria of how applications were scrutinized consisted of:

- Innovation

- Market viability (including scalability and business sustainability)

- Potential environmental, social and economic impacts
 

 Here are the 24 successful applicants:

These applicants will subsequently attend a ‘bootcamp’, where they will have professional mentorship and coaching on entrepreneurship, cleantech, managing financials, developing their business models, pitch and more.

Applicants will develop their ideas and polish it for another round of shortlisting, and those selected may win grant funding of up to VND 1,000,000,000 per applicant depending on the feasibility of their business case. They will also get prized access to the full Vietnam CIC program and to showcase their eco-business models.
